Healey Dell is a beauty spot and wildlife sanctuary two miles from the centre of Rochdale Lancashire UK. The River Spodden has cut its way through woodlands forming spectacular waterfalls which once powered the ancient corn, wool and cotton mills of the area. A little way upstream where was (until a great flood in 1839) a natural excavation formed by the water which was known as the Fairies’ Chapel and was said to have a pulpit, reading desk and seats. Where there is a Fairies’ Chapel….
